Because humans have become increasingly distracted by technology, Estonian activists launched an intervention in a dangerous intersection.

When nearly 25% of all traffic accidents result from a combination of texting and driving, it’s clear society has a problem. However, not all accidents happen while one is behind the wheel.  Sometimes, citizens are so distracted by their phones, they meander into traffic and become a prime victim for roadkill.
Because humans have become increasingly distracted by technology, Estonian activists decided to (illegally) demonstrate just how dangerous infatuation with one’s mobile device can be.
Bored Panda relays that the activists launched their intervention in one of the most dangerous intersections in Kristiine, Tallinn. Reportedly, they hoped to show people how dangerous it can be to cross the streets while being on the phone, as well as the potential consequences.
The group made 18 crime-scene images in the middle of the road by utilizing human-sized stencils and fake blood. All in all, their main aim was to shock people. Did they succeed?

Texting while driving is also a serious concern. Every day, an average of eleven teenagers are killed in the U.S. from crashes involving mobile use.
